Short Story + Closed Event Post
As she hung out at the Duel College, as she did most days after school, Yuzu had...a lot going through her head, to put it lightly. After their loss to Divine Grace and Kachidoki's subsequent attack and challenge to Yuya, it was pretty clear that she and Yuya wouldn't be dueling as DoubleYu at the Duel Festival. Part of Yuzu was disappointed about that. More of her was just worried about Yuya. A tangible part of her had been scared for the two of them when Kachdioki had jumped them like that. He was way more unhinged than he had been at any point thus far. Everything with him and his family was...really complicated and hard for Yuzu to parse out. The main thing she could parse out that the people running Ryozanpaku were the dirt worst.
But even amidst everything with her team and Yuya and Kachidoki and her own desires to duel on the main stage of the Duel Festival...there was something else that was bothering her.
"I don't really wanna explain it, and I really don't want you to know either, Yuzu."
Sora's strange, cryptic words to her following his duel with Kurosaki. The strange looks and words he and Kurosaki kept sending back and forth between each other...that encounter some time back where Kurosaki had called her "Ruri"...that mysterious boy who looked like Yuya and hung around Kurosaki and had showed up when she'd gone to Ryozanpaku...
It was all. Pretty freaking confusing. And Sora's refusal to tell her anything about it only complicated matters more. Part of her just wanted to focus on something besides Yuya, Kachidoki and the Duel Festival for a few minutes, so...
When she spotted Kurosaki speaking to Johan-san about something, she quickly latched onto it. Kurosaki eventually finished up whatever he was doing with Johan and walked away. Yuzu quickly followed after.
"Trust me. Getting involved with anything relating to that guy is going to ruin your life."
Yuzu let out a huff and pushed the warning out of her mind.
"H-hey! Kurosaki!" She said, calling out to him. He briefly turned his head back, his eyes widening slightly when he noticed it was Yuzu, but he didn't say anything. "I need to talk to you about something!"
"What," he said, sharply.
"I need to talk to you about some stuff -- about you and Sora!" Kurosaki's eyes immediately narrowed again.
"No."
"But I just --"
"No."
"Will you at least let me--"
"No." Kurosaki was walking away at this point.
"Hey! Don't just walk away from me! HEY! HEEEEY!"
A few more moments of walking and a few more moments of Yuzu demanding Kurosaki speak to her later, the two were outside. And Kurosaki's patience was, in a word, thinned.
"You're not going to go away, are you," he said, flatly.
"Nope. I can be a total pain in the ass if I want to!" Yuzu boasted. "You should probably just give me what I want and save yourself the headache."
"Ah."
He was silent for a moment. So was Yuzu.
Then Kurosaki broke off into a sprint down the street, leaving Yuzu in the dust.
"E-eeehhh! H-HEY! HEY! NO WAY!" Yuzu immediately started running after him. "YOU CAN'T LOSE ME THAT EASILY! GET BACK HERE! KUROSAKIIIIIIIII!"

[After an extended chase through part of downtown Domino, Yuzu has come to an alley near a tenement -- and unfortunately for her, it's here where she's kind of lost Shun entirely, despite keeping up with him probably longer than anybody expected.]
G-geez...! How does a guy that big run that fast...?! [She huffs and puffs a bit before she looks around.] Where the heck am I, even...uggghh...
HEY, KUROSAKI! WHERE ARE YOU?! [She keeps looking around, shouting out for Shun every so often. Pretty clear she's not giving up.]
But even amidst everything with her team and Yuya and Kachidoki and her own desires to duel on the main stage of the Duel Festival...there was something else that was bothering her.

*Yuto looks away from her slightly. It's true they had inadvertently involved her while they thought she was Ruri, but he didn't want to risk her getting involved any further with them.*

And it's okay for my friend Yuya to get hurt because of people mistaking him for you?! Is that what you're saying?!

*Yuto's eyes snap back at her and open wide for a moment, before they once again trail away awkwardly.
He doesn't say anything in response, but she definitely struck a chord there.*

Sora is my friend...but Kurosaki tried to help Yuya when they dueled Ryozanpaku. And you tried to help me when I was gonna fight them as well. I don't think any of you are bad guys...
But...who are you?! None of you are here to be pro duelists or anything like that, are you, so what are you after?!

*For a brief moment, Yuto is silent, before he gradually looks back at her.*
We're trying to save a very important friend of ours, who was captured by our enemy.

[Her eyes widen as something clicks into place.]
That's -- is that Ruri?!

*Yuto's eyes widen a bit. Yuzu had caught onto that quickly.
He then gives her a small slient nod in response.*

So...do I...look like Ruri, then? [A girl who looks like her? This is starting to sound familiar...]

We wondered why Ruri would be here and why she was using a different name... so we wanted to confirm it.
But... you aren't Ruri.
Ruri would never learn the summoning method of the enemy!

*Yuto closes his eyes for a moment, as if remembering a painful memory.*
Our enemy uses Fusion Summoning.

[Yuzu blinks a couple times.]
But, that doesn't...
Th-the reason I learned Fusion Summoning...it was because my friends were in danger! I learned it so I could protect them! Because...
[She grimaces and looks away - her expression is similar to his - recalling a painful memory, of when Desperado was attacking Yuya and Yuma.]
I wasn't strong enough to stop it on my own.

*At first, Yuto flinches in surprise at hearing the reason why Yuzu originally learned fusion summoning. That she has been fighting her own battles in order to protect her friends.*
We've also been fighting in order to protect Ruri and our other comrades, in the hopes that we can put an end to this conflict and create a world where no-one else is hurt.
I don't want to involve you in this conflict.
But... if you find that you have no choice in becoming involved and you have to fight, I want you to survive...
... even if it means using Fusion Summoning!

*Yuto then steps closer to her.*
Changing, and growing stronger, for the sake of your friends isn't wrong.
*As he finishes the sentence, Yuto's stern and cold expression that he'd worn through most of the conversation, turns to a slightly more warmer, reassuring smile.*

That soft, reassuring smile on his face...it really does remind her of Yuya, the way he talks to her, the way he encourages her.
Right at that moment...he really does look and sound a lot like Yuya.]

*For a small moment, he looks at her, the soft expression still on his face. He, too, could see a lot of Ruri in Yuzu.*
You really do look exactly like Ruri.
*With that, he quickly begins to move away.*

[Before he can go, Yuzu grabs his hand.]
T...tell me about Ruri! who is she?!

*He seems surprised as she grabs his hand, as he turns around to look at her again. As he does a wind begins to suddenly pick up from within the alleyway.*
Ruri is Shun's younger sister.

Then...what about you?! Will you tell me what your name is?

*He smiles at her again. That same soft smile.*

[The wind suddenly picks up in ferocity. Yuzu instinctively covers her face with her arm and shuts her eyes, ducking her head down.]

*As Yuzu covers herself from the wind, Yuto slips his hand away from hers. He takes one last look back at her, before running deeper into the alleyway, disappearing into the shadows.
When the wind finally dies down, Yuzu will find herself stood in the alleyway by herself.*

[Yuzu looks up to find the wind gone...and the boy gone as well.
She gulps, quietly.]
